Lessons from the last session: Taking Flight

Coming into the final day of this amazing journey, I had mixed feelings. But perhaps some things are never meant to change, for good; not getting up on time for sessions and my buddy calling me to wake up, is a case in point.

Seeing everyone full of energy and enthusiasm. the tiredness and monotony of having to get up early in the morning every weekend were soon wiped away. The most celebrated thing about the last session was that we knew that we’ll not be having any formal work-related activities and hectic tasks for today. It was more about sharing our experiences with each other and planning how to stay in touch once the fellowship ends. We discovered some unsung singers when the activity of singing a song with the last letter of any word started. Team girls might have won the game but team boys, particularly Ahmad and Aqib, definitely won hearts.

This little fun session was a learning curve for me as to how it is important for us to be carefree at times and do things for the sake of emotional uplift without caring much about my work.

The Amal journey and the wonderful fellows I have met will always stay close to my heart. With the prevalent pandemic, we still all want to be cautious and would make the most of all the social media platforms to stay connected. Of course, once the world returns back to the old normal, we definitely would be having more in-person meet-ups and sessions.

In a nutshell, the Amal journey has made me a much more confident individual who is much more aware of his strengths, values, areas of improvement, and future goals, to mention just a few. I have learned the importance of teamwork, being specific, focusing on the results and above all finding the why behind my endeavors. You people will certainly be missed but as we all know change is the only constant in this universe.
